SHOOT 3 WORK RECORD

Preparatory Shoot 3 -

Plans for shoot -

I will have a model in 'uniform' walking showing a trip back from school, I will take my images and then edit them into black and white

Research -

For this shoot I decided to look at Yasujiro who in fact was a Japanese film director and screenwriter. He began his career during the era of silent films, and his last films were made in color in the early 1960s. Ozu first made a number of short comedies, before turning to more serious themes in the 1930s The reason I have chosen to look at him was because of the way he focused on again family culture within these photos, this then made me decide to look at how my step sister does activities after school in a British culture.

AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.

My idea for this shoot was to take my younger sister and capture her just going on a walk after school for this setting. I felt like this would be a good setting as it shows the adventure of a teen. By her wearing a uniform it reflects that she is still in education and how her activities may differ from someone who is older.  It also reflects a quite country setting. My personal favourite was the ones of her sitting on a bench as the bright green contrasts well with the darker colours of the uniform and the bench.

AO2Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.

In this shoot I again set my camera up using the manual mode. I then held my camera freehand without a tripod so it was easy to get harder angles that the tripod may not have been able to reach. I then edited my work in photoshop having a few go the images developed into black and white having a higher contrast. I then did the same with the coloured photos however, had an increased vibrance.

AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.

My artist research helped through my shoot because I was able to capture a British school child after finishing a day at school. By focusing in on her like Ozu had done it meant that I was able to really develop my ideas on what I wanted to do and how to experiment and turn some of the pictures into black and white.

AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.

I feel overall my shoot was successful and my images slightly improved from shoot 2. The reason this being is because this time I tried to keep the area all in the same radius and when editing my pictures tried not to have too much of a powerful vibrance that would not make the model stand out.

Progression -

For my next shoot, I want to try and capture someone having a walk through a scenery with more nature. This may be a field or forest where I have an ray of different lightings to work with. I also think for my next shoot I will again photograph the images freehand without a tripod for support.
